“As your next State Representative I will put People before Government and People before Corporations.” Here in Cherokee County we have recently seen our local government rezone properties against the will of the people just to satisfy a corporations desires. When those people showed up at the City Council Meeting they discovered that the corporation had filled the chamber with employees and prevented them from voicing their opposition. We’ve seen our governments sacrifice the needs and desires of the people because it was in the best interest of the local government.

In an August 13th article of the Cherokee Tribune, Ashley Fuller reports that There are 544 foreclosures up for bid on the courthouse steps on Sept. 7 That brings the number of foreclosures to 3,505 for the first eight months of the year. People are losing their homes faster then ever before and our current elected officials are doing nothing to stop or slow the process.

Georgia must modernization of our foreclosure laws and slow process of taking someones home. Not just to help those who are in trouble and struggling during this great recession, but to help all of us. As more and more homes are foreclosed on, all our home values are driven down in value. Homes are already at levels last seen 10 years ago, how low do they have to go before our representative will act?

As your next State Representative, I will work with all members of the house to slow this process down so people can keep their homes.

I support an HOV lane on I-575 connecting us to the existing HOV on i75, but not the tolls. We are already taxed for roads, have a new 1% sales tax option coming (some day) and now our state wants more money from us. It’s time to say NO.

I am a Canton commuter who travels to and from Atlanta everyday for work. I pay my property tax, sales tax, income tax and I don’t want to pay anymore taxes or fees. The DOT needs to add the two reversible lanes as planned, but as HOV lanes. If our State Legislature would invest in our roads and transportation systems, we could reduce the emissions that prevent us from Federal Dollars for road work.
